Introduction

Shepherd’s Care Foundation (SCF) and the Board of Directors of SCF have both approved a Whistleblower Policy to:

  • Deter and detect illegal, unethical, or otherwise improper activity (Wrongdoing) within SCF so as to protect the organization’s mission including its resources, effectiveness, and reputation;
  • Enhance the environment for residents, employees, and other stakeholders;
  • Provide clear guidance for the safe disclosure of any Wrongdoing by, for, or in collaboration with a SCF manager including members of the Strategic Leadership Team (SLT) and members of the Board of Directors and non-Board Committee members;
  • Mitigate retaliatory action against whistleblowers and others who comply with the policy.

The Policies

  • Have an extensive definition of Wrongdoing; and
  • Set out the process for reporting Wrongdoing if a person, in good faith, has reasonable grounds to believe Wrongdoing has taken place.
